Energy of Change
Dear Ones,
In Shamanic traditions, the energy or essence of an animal archetype is important. It too has a purpose and carries medicine for us. As we co-mingle with these energies, we share in their energy; we are in a process. We grow and evolve, transforming into something new... we change.
In Chinese Astrology, we are entering the year of the Fire Horse, leaving behind the 2025 Wood Snake year and, before that, the 2024 Wood Dragon year. What does this mean? Each of these energies is said to carry a frequency and purpose for personal and collective change, guiding our evolution to a higher octave of being.
A simple interpretation is that the Dragon would bring unconscious shadow energies into conscious awareness. Beliefs, patterns, perspectives, projections, judgments, stereotypes, and defenses we were not even aware of come to the surface. They reveal something hidden within us that we are ready to transform.
The dragon is associated with sacred rage, a powerful, constructive force for change that manifests as righteous indignation in standing up to injustice and oppression. The process transforms personal action into constructive action. If unconscious, it can be expressed as a destructive action. Here is the striving and growth to make it conscious.
In the year of the Wood Snake, I see this as an energy of shedding what is no longer needed, a letting go of old patterns, beliefs, and fears. It is like a snake shedding its skin, leaving behind the old skin that no longer fits. With new awareness, we can see what is out of alignment as our perspectives shift. How we used to do things doesn’t work anymore.
We must trust as we let go, just like the snake, not seeing where we are going but knowing change is imminent. Yet we have greater confidence in making these changes because we are ready.
Now we enter the year of the Fire Horse, an energy of change, big change, radical change. This energy also carries momentum, bringing hope to us and our world.
Even as things fall apart, it feels different; there is movement. It is as if we are no longer stuck! The gunk, or unconscious patterns, has shifted our passive, unconscious shadow behaviors. We feel freer; we take action to explore new possibilities and shift consciousness, both personally and collectively.
There are so many changes afoot, a dynamic period of movement toward a better world, a new way of being. Here, we can envision the world we want and begin living it with this energy of change.
It doesn’t mean there won’t be challenges; there will be, but there is a shift. We may feel less bogged down, less stuck, as we are ready to make the changes that support our personal and collective evolution.
